The Legislative Council, or Upper House, reviews legislation that has been passed by the House of Assembly. Members are elected for a term of eight years and at each State election half of the Legislative Council seats are up for renewal. Members for the other half of the seats are elected at the next State election.

Acknowledgement of Country

The Parliament of South Australia acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional owners of this country throughout Australia, and their connection to land and community. We pay our respect to them and their cultures and to the Elders both past and present.
